independent bistro food in York
Having forged a sterling reputation for culinary excellence over the past ten years, independent bistro, Café No. 8 offers an exceptional dining experience in the centre of bustling, historic York.
We believe that outstanding fresh produce should be the star of the show. We like to complement, not over-complicate; an ethos that our small, dedicated team of chefs remains true to with each new menu creation. Our innovative dishes pack a punch on the flavour front too, something which would not be possible without our highly acclaimed local suppliers. Our organic veg is supplied by Fine Foods of Heslington, our fish from Fowlers of York and quality meat from Sykes House Farm, Wetherby.
Whether you’re popping in for breakfast, a leisurely lunch or a tasty supper, we know you will love our inimitable neighbourhood feel and delicious food. Come and savour the Café No. 8 atmosphere – perhaps an alfresco afternoon tea or a pre-theatre dinner in our hidden gem of a patio garden, which is framed by the York walls and basks in the shadows of York Minster. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
